VW apparently wants to break new ground. Because under the project name “The Wanderer” Volkswagen is working on a fully electric house on wheels. The focus is mainly on the topics of sustainability and mobility.

It was only recently revealed that Panasonic is building its own battery factory for the American automotive pioneer. On the other hand, in Germany, Volkswagen in particular is undergoing a green transition. After the emissions scandal, the Wolfsburg group had to reinvent itself.
Barely a year has passed without VW announcing an electric car. The ID series is now part of the street scene. Volkswagen even quit electric version of the VW Beetle. But now VW is doing a little better and wants to enter the mobile home market in an unconventional way.
“The Wanderer”: A mobile tiny house from Volkswagen
Because “The Wanderer” is different from classic mobile homes. The model is similar to a small house and is created as part of the group’s current strategy. Under the name “New Auto”, VW intends to produce vehicles that reflect the mobility of the future.
Therefore, “The Wanderer” cannot be compared with other mobile homes. It is more of a small house designed to travel for a few months or a year. When it comes to design, VW is breaking new ground. Compared to classic mobile homes, “The Wanderer” has large windows that let a lot of light into the interior of the vehicle.
There is no canopy for the improvised balcony, but a full terrace can be extended from inside the vehicle. According to internal reports, the entire design and manufacturing phase is focused on sustainability and durability.
Start of production from 2030 at the earliest
However, it will take some time before Volkswagen’s Tiny House hits the market. The automaker expects the product to be ready for the market in 2030 at the earliest. The announcement comes at a time when VW is trying to differentiate itself from the competition.
Because there are no significant differences between many brands anymore. Numerous models and equipment are largely the same. So it will be exciting to see if Volkswagen can differentiate itself from the competition with its ‘The Wanderer’ tiny house.
