Teaching and exams in the remaining winter semester / Friedrich Schiller University Jena blog

Dear students,

Happy and above all healthy new year to you all! The end of the lecture period is approaching and with it the exam phase. In this circular, you will get important information about the implementation of classes and exams in the remaining winter semester.

Mainly digital teaching until the end of the semester

The extensive conversion of face-to-face courses to digital formats, which was completed at the beginning of the year, will be maintained until the end of the winter semester 2021/22 in view of the expansion of the Omicron variant.

Seminars with a maximum of 15 participants can be held face-to-face, if the presence is didactically necessary, teachers and students have agreed in advance on the face-to-face form, and apart from the requirements in the concept of protection against infection, it is possible to keep a distance.

The transition to digital formats continues to exclude internships and practical exercises, supervision with medical indications, as well as examinations and defenses of doctoral students, which must be carried out in person.

Depending on how the pandemic situation develops, it cannot be ruled out that even this offer of cautious presence will have to be transferred to digital formats in the short term.

Exams in the winter semester

There are both digital exams and face-to-face exams. Please prepare for your lecturers to switch to digital formats of the announced face-to-face exams in the coming days and weeks. You will be informed of any changes no later than 14 days before the exam date.
