Facebook is splitting up its previous news feed

Facebook has restructured its application. To this end, the Meta subsidiary has split its previous news channel into new channels and a home tab.

The Facebook app hasn’t necessarily evolved towards clarity in recent years. Meta has been cramming more and more features into the app, which has not made it easy for many to use.

The group has now announced updates to its iOS and Android apps. Among other things, by introducing feeds and the home tab, Facebook wants to ensure that users no longer miss “posts from friends”.

Why does Facebook split the app into channels and home tabs?

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg announced the app’s new split in a Facebook post. Accordingly, the current home page of the application will be divided into channels and home tabs in the future.

One of Facebook’s most requested features is making sure you don’t miss posts from your friends.

In the new Feeds tab, users will be able to see the posts of their friends, groups or pages in chronological order.

The Home tab is the resource that users see first when they open the Facebook app. Here, Facebook continues to display personalized content that the algorithm has selected.

What does the new Resources tab offer?

On Facebook’s new Feeds tab, users have access to a chronological feed for the first time in a long time.

provide feed according to Facebook“an easy way to discover the contents of your contacts or groups.

In the future, Facebook will not suggest any posts to its users on this tab. However, advertising is included.

How is it different from the Home tab?

On the other hand, the Home tab is becoming “more and more of a discovery machine.” Here, users should “find and follow new content and creators through recommendations.”

The home tab is based on Facebook’s algorithm and shows users posts they might be interested in. The order of posts is structured to be “most valuable in our opinion”.

When will the Resources and Home tabs launch?

According to Facebook, some users should already be able to access the two new tabs through the menu bar.

The feeds tab and home page will therefore be launched with immediate effect. Updates will roll out globally over the coming week.
